Kidjo joins 2010 World Cup kick off concert
Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter and African activist Angelique Kidjo will join a group of artists invited to perform at the inaugural FIFA World Cup Kick-Off Celebration Concert. The show will air live on VEVO June 10th from Soweto/Johannesburg, South Africa.
Kidjo will be joined by Alicia Keys, Black Eyed Peas, John Legend, Shakira, Juanes, K’Naan, Hugh Masekela and others for this once in a lifetime performance taking place of the eve of the first day of matches. She herself was born in Benin (West Africa), and has been deemed “Africa’s premier diva” by Time Magazine.
In addition, Angelique recently teamed up with Ziggy Marley on his new single inspired by the first-ever World Cup in Africa. ( Read More…)
